Pickleball Overview

The pickleball program at Boca Royale consists of open play, competitive play, social/beginner play, Round Robins, and socials.  We also have a weekly session devoted exclusively to ladies’ play.  Courts are also available for reservation by members for private play.  All levels of players are welcome, and we occasionally offer free “introduction to pickleball” events for those who have never played.  Lessons and clinics are available from our IPTPA Certified Professional, Dave Thieme. While many of our players like to compete, and some regularly participate in tournaments, the focus of our pickleball program is social.  We are especially welcoming to players new to the game who are looking for a friendly activity.  Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country, largely because of the friendly nature of the players and the social aspects of the game.  It is also a game for all ages from teenagers to octogenarians. The Boca Royale pickleball program has an active communications element including a weekly newsletter during the season.  But pickleball also has some real health benefits.  It is a way for older adults to stay fit and get some exercise while having fun. Pickleball comes under the Racquets Membership at Boca Royale.  This membership entitles you to, in addition to pickleball, tennis and use of our fitness center.  It also comes with a social membership in our Club and all the activities associated with that including cards, bingo, trivia, and a large number of other social activities.
